Bundaberg Model Train & Hobby Expo

In March we took Amby West on its first a road trip, 400k north to the two-day Bundaberg Model Train & Hobby Expo.

The Expo was held in the Multiplex Sports & Convention Centre, one of the best venues on the exhibition scene in South East Queensland. It was great to see the old faithful and there layouts as well a few new layouts. Many of the layout were from Brisbane with support from the local wide bay area groups. The Gladstone club also travelled down with layouts and a display.

The weather was not that great, local flooding had gripped the area in the week or so before the weekend, heavy storms were around all weekend making the grounds around the venue very wet. Couple with the fuel situation and sky rocking costs and other events in town, the overall attendance was not great.

The exhibition was hosted by the Bundaberg and Wide Bay Model Railway Club.

Kerrie painted a new backdrop for the layout, in a minute or so the backdrop can be changed. There was also some new rolling stock on the layout. One of the Tuesday Nighter had a bit of fun with AI.

Overall, a great show that has a good cross section of the hobby. Trust, you enjoy a small section from the Expo. Amby West is having a break for now, no commitments have been made for its next outing.

Next month it’s back to the workshop and some modelling. I will look at QR Dental Clinics carriages. Until then, please enjoy the hobby and have fun.
